Streetwear Abbreviations - Glossary

A Guide to Essential Acronyms for Newbies and Veterans – Key Streetwear terms essential for communicating effectively in online communities.

AND

  • ASAP - “As soon as possible” – So as soon as possible…
  • ACG - “All Condition Gear” clothing , footwear and accessories created with all weather conditions in mind

B

  • BACKDOOR – purchasing shoes / clothes through unofficial channels, e.g. through acquaintances from store employees
  • BESPOKE – limited special editions that are not mass-produced
  • BEATERS Kicks that we don't take care of, usually worn-out shoes that we use every day
  • BID – this is your bid in the auction/bidding
  • BIN - “Buy it now” - buy now price
  • GOD – “ Buy One Get One” – sweatshirt with a characteristic boxlogo such as Supreme
  • BOT – an application used to drop limited items – e.g. Nike , adidas or Supreme drops
  • BREDY - Jordan colors from the words black and red
  • BUMP - “Bring up my post” - bumping is about bumping/refreshing your post in groups with a comment

C

  • CW – “Color Way” - the color scheme of the model
  • COP OR DROP? – “You take it or leave it” – To take or not to take?
  • CMDNS – “What are you wearing today?” – a popular tag among Polish streetwear fans on Instagram # cmdns
  • CMDNS – “What are you wearing today?” – a popular tag among Polish sneakerheads on Instagram # cmdnnn
  • CRISPY - in the simplest translation still crispy - a term for something very pure

D

  • DS – “Deadstock” – which means that the item we are describing is in perfect condition, straight from the store, 10/10
  • DROP shoe / clothing premiere, e.g. in the Nike SNKRS or adidas app

E

  • EASY COP - easy, successful purchase

F

  • FAKE / FAKES / FAKES – Fakes, Fakes – counterfeits / not original shoes or clothes
  • FIT – Does something match a given style or other shoes or clothes?
  • FLEX – to show off – to show off

G

  • GRAIL – a model that is our dream, often a limited, hard-to-find and expensive edition
  • GR - general release – release date of the selected collection
  • GS – youth/women's sizing
  • GOAT – “Greatest Of All Time” – e.g. the best shoe model ever released

H

  • HARD COP - difficult purchase
  • HEAT – fire – colors/model of shoes / clothes that are really v. good
  • HO – “Highest Offer” - which means the current highest bid that the seller has received so far, if the seller's price is not so certain
  • HMU – “Hit Me Up” – boost – request for BUMP
  • HYPEBEAST – Hypebeast – a person who follows the latest Streetwear trends, i.e. hype (fashion)
  • HYPE – fashion for something that everyone wants to have, something is hyped, i.e. something is fashionable and everyone knows it and desires it

AND

  • ID – “the English equivalent of the word identifier ” – it means that we do not know the exact name of the item we want and we ask other group users for help in finding out its name
  • ICY SALTS – transparent (ice) or semi-transparent sole in shoes

K

  • CAMPING/CAMPER – staying in front of the store waiting for a drop
  • KMWTW - whoever is supposed to know knows
  • KOLABO / COLLABO – collaboration, cooperation of e.g. two well-known companies or people, most often unique items come out of such collaborations

L

  • LC – “Legit Check” , aimed at confirming the authenticity of the item we want to buy or a streetwear store
  • L – “ Legit ” – original shoes / clothes purchased from a trusted seller
  • LPU - “Latest Pick Up” - recent purchases

M

  • MATCH – something in the same color or style, e.g. a t-shirt and a hat

N

  • NDC – “ nike dot com” – or the website nike.com
  • NWT – “New with tags” – new product with tags
  • NWOT – “New without tags” – new product but without tags
  • NUPTSE – is a series of popular winter jackets from the brand “ The North Face

ABOUT

  • OBO – “or best offer” – our best offer
  • IT – “or nearest offer” – the closest (price) offer
  • OG – original – the first, original edition of a given model
  • OUTFIT, FIT - clothing/outfit

P

  • PAD - “Pass as DS”Shoes that have only been tried on once and are in DS condition.
  • PC – “Price Check” – title of the post in which we want to find out what the price of a given item is in the condition we specified
  • EP - Player Exclusive – Player-only kicks that never went on sale officially, e.g. Kobe Bryant’s PE colorway
  • PFA – pic for attention – photos to get attention
  • PP READY – “PayPal ready” – someone has money in their PayPal account and offers immediate payment
  • TO BUY – that is, to buy, acquire
  • PROXY – buying broker (usually someone who has a discount on the store and sells shoes / clothes cheaper than in the store)

R

  • RAP - When someone gives too high a price
  • RESTOCK – supplementation of the size chart in the store
  • RESELL , RESELLING – when you buy something with the intention of reselling it for a higher price
  • RELEASE -shoe / clothing release date
  • RETAIL - original manufacturer's catalog price

S

  • SCAMMER – a fraudster, a person who does not intend to buy a given item, or tries to defraud it
  • SELL , SELLNĄĆ – to sell, to chase away
  • SE – “Special Edition – a limited version of shoes or clothes created most often for a special occasion
  • SHIPPED – price for the product with the shipping cost already included
  • STEAL – it is usually a great opportunity, e.g. a much lower price, or a limited and hard-to-find item at a good price
  • SNEAKERS / SNEAKERS kicks , sports shoes
  • STREETWEAR – a person who promotes limited edition streetwear clothes and shoes , e.g. Supreme , Nike , Yeezy , etc.

T

  • TAG / CARD WITH TAG – a way to confirm that the photos added in sales ads are ours and not copied from the internet. The most commonly used method is a card with a tag, i.e. with your nickname or name and surname, along with the item being sold in the background.
  • TEE / TEESt-shirt / shirt
  • TTS – “True To Size” – this group slogan means the correspondence of the shoe size we normally wear to its actual width and length, which, as we know, does not always match 😉

  • UNBOXING – It's nothing more than opening shoe boxes, on YouTube you will find a lot of reviews of shoes of this type

V

  • VNDS – Very nearly deadstock – condition almost like new, about 9/10.

IN

  • W2C “Where to Cop” – where can I buy shoes / clothes
  • WTS – “Want To Sell” – which in English means “I want to sell”, this type of introduction to a post is logically used when you want to sell something
  • WTB – “Want To Buy” – i.e. “I want to buy”, the topic of the post in terms of searching for offers from other members of the sales group
  • WTT - “Want to trade” - meaning "I want to exchange"
  • WOMFT - “What's on my feet today” – or what I have on my feet today, a popular tag among sneakerheads: #womft
