Adidas, one of the most recognizable sports brands in the world, was founded in 1949 by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in Germany. The brand gained fame thanks to innovative ideas for sports footwear, including the introduction of the first spiked shoes for track and field athletes. Adidas gained international recognition after German footballer Franz Beckenbauer began wearing their products and also through participation in the 1952 Olympic Games.
