Adidas, one of the most recognizable sports brands in the world, was founded in 1949 by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in Germany. The brand gained fame thanks to innovative ideas for sports footwear, including the introduction of the first spiked shoes for track and field athletes. Adidas gained international recognition after German footballer Franz Beckenbauer began wearing their products and also through participation in the 1952 Olympic Games. In the 1970s, Adidas not only became a symbol of athletic performance, but also began to be identified as part of hip-hop culture, which expanded its influence beyond the world of sports. Today, Adidas is a global leader in sportswear and equipment, famous for innovation, quality and iconic product lines such as Stan Smith and UltraBoost.
